UCT Sport Scholarships - Application Information

How to Apply for the UCT Sports Scholarship

Ready to take your athletic career to the next level while pursuing academic excellence at UCT? 

Follow these simple steps to apply for the UCT Sports Scholarship:

  1. Check Eligibility Requirements
    Before applying, ensure that you meet the necessary UCT Application criteria. UCT Sports Scholarships are open to students with proven excellence in their sport, whether at the provincial, national, or international level. You must also meet the academic requirements set by the university.
  2. Complete the Online Application Form
    Complete the online application process to study at UCT. After you have completed your academic application, Please click the link to access the Sport Scholarship Form. Be sure to provide accurate and complete information about your sporting achievements, academic background, and future goals.
  3. Prepare Your Supporting Documents
    Gather the necessary documentation to support your application. This includes:
    • A detailed sporting CV highlighting your achievements
    • Proof of your current sporting level and competition history
    • Any other relevant documents, such as recommendation letters or evidence of training and competition
  4. Submit Your Supporting Documentation
    Once you have completed the online application form, email your supporting documents to sports.scholarships@uct.ac.za before 31 October 2026. All supporting documents must be emailed in PDF format only. Make sure to double-check all details before submission to ensure a smooth process.

  5. Await Results
    After your application has been reviewed, only successful candidates will be notified of the outcome in January 2027. Sports Scholarships are deposited into the student’s fees account later, towards the end of the first semester. 

    All supporting information must be sent to sports.scholarships@uct.ac.za with the subject line "[name of the sport you're applying for] scholarship | Full name of the applicant" . (e.g., Cricket Scholarship | Joe Soap)
