Overview

UCT Yacht Club is your gateway to adventure on the water! Whether you’ve never sailed before or are an experienced sailor, UCTYC is the place for you. Our club offers opportunities to get involved in windsurfing and sailing on both keelboats and dinghies, catering to all skill levels. Our yacht club, based at Zeekoevlei, facilitates all of our training and more! *Beyond the water, we foster a great social community through braais and socials with members and alumni.

* Lifts are always available to and from the yacht club, our whatsapp group allows you to just shout when you need transport!

Highlights throughout the year

UCTYC participates in multiple events throughout the year, so there is always an opportunity to get on the water! Our sailors compete at both provincial and national levels, as well as our most anticipated event of the year: USSA (University Sport South Africa), also known as intervarsity! UCTYC are the current reigning champions in both the A and B sections, with the A winning USSA 2024 for the ninth consecutive year.

Off the water, the yacht club hosts various socials as a way for our members to get to know one another off the water! This is a great way to male friends with like minded people!

Training information

Training takes place over the weekends (Friday afternoons - Sunday), with occasional sessions during the week depending on the conditions.

Membership

Become part of our crew today! It’s as easy as going onto PeopleSoft → Join Clubs and Societies → use our code “YCL” to sign up for the year. Our fee for this year is R1400 which includes so many awesome opportunities available. It also includes a yearly membership to South African Sailing which is the national organisation.
