Overview

The UCT Ju-Jitsu Club is a member of the South African Ju-Jitsu Association and has been active since 1976 and was the first university Ju-Jitsu club in the country/region. We teach Gaven-Ryu Ju-Jitsu which was developed from Tenshin Shinyu-Ryu Ju-Jitsu. Our techniques revolve around throws, joint manipulation/locks, blocks/evasions and strikes. Importantly these techniques make use of leverage and weaknesses in the body to help you defend against larger and stronger opponents. Members are encouraged to come and learn the practical and theory at their own pace.
