About Us

The University of Cape Town Mountain & Ski Club (UCTMSC) is a vibrant community for students who share a passion for outdoor adventures. Whether you are an experienced climber, a passionate hiker, or someone who loves the thrill of the mountains, our club offers a welcoming environment to explore and connect with nature.

Founded in 1933, we aim to promote outdoor activities and foster a love for the mountains. Our club organises regular trips, skill-building workshops, and social events to engage members and enhance their outdoor experience.

Membership

Joining the UCT Mountain and Ski Club is easy! To become a member, sign-up on PeopleSoft using code "HIL". Membership is open to all UCT students, and we welcome newcomers to our community. We are one of the cheapest clubs at just R260 a year!

 

As a member, you will have access to:

  • Discounted trips and events
  • Workshops on skiing, hiking, and outdoor skills
  • A network of like-minded outdoor enthusiasts
  • Access to our very own climbing gym!
  • Access to the development fund

As a club, we try to ensure that finances are never the reason that any of our members can't get outdoors. The development fund exists to provide anonymous financial assistance for any and all costs an applicant might incur on an event.
