UCT Karate Club Overview
The UCT Karate Club, established in 1963, is one of the oldest martial clubs at the University of Cape Town. It focuses on Goju ryu Karate, a traditional style known for its dynamic techniques, precision, and emphasis on discipline and character development. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced practitioner, the UCT Karate Club provides a supportive environment for physical and mental growth while fostering camaraderie and respect. Our club emphasises technical precision in kata (forms) and kihon (basic techniques) as well as controlled sparring (kumite) to develop real-world self-defence skills.
