USSA 2024 – A Triumph of Grit and Teamwork
Last year’s USSA tournament in East London was nothing short of exhilarating. Our men’s team battled fiercely against top university teams from across the country, facing intense competition at every stage. The road to securing first place was a true test of resilience, but our players rose to the challenge, delivering outstanding performances match after match. With exceptional coaching staff guiding us every step of the way, the team showcased not only skill and determination but also an unbreakable spirit that ultimately led to victory.
Our women’s team also had a remarkable tournament, finishing 4th overall. They dominated the pool stages, losing only one game, and demonstrated incredible teamwork and skill. Unfortunately, when it came to knockout polo, the competition was fierce, and we fell short. However, the team put up a great fight, and their performance throughout the tournament was nothing short of inspiring. With this experience under our belt, we are determined to push even further and aim for a stronger finish at the end of this year.
SA Representatives – National and International Talent
UCT Water Polo is proud to have a roster of incredibly talented athletes, with both our men’s and women’s teams featuring South African representatives at various levels. This brings a diverse range of skills and experience to our squad, strengthening our competitive edge and raising the standard of university water polo in South Africa.
Current League Campaign – Pushing the Limits
Our league season is in full swing, and we are taking on some of the toughest teams in Cape Town. Since mid-January, the squad has been training relentlessly, focusing on both individual development and team synergy. The dedication and hard work are paying off, as the team continues to grow stronger with each match. The chemistry among players is exceptional, creating a dynamic and cohesive unit determined to excel throughout the season.
Upcoming Tournaments – Raising the Bar
We are gearing up for two highly competitive tournaments in the coming months – the Gauteng Tournament between the 3rd and 6th of April 2025 and the Cape Town Tournament between the 3rd and 6th of October 2025. Both events bring together some of the best water polo teams from across South Africa, providing an exciting opportunity to test our skills against fresh competition. These tournaments not only challenge us but also offer a platform for growth, strategy refinement, and team development. We are eager to showcase our talent, gain valuable experience, and continue striving for excellence
